It all started when Greg Hluska spent a week in a cardiac ward and had an angiogram. He was badly out of shape so his heart issue was fully self imposed.
His heart problem and his 16 month old daughter convinced him he had to figure things out so he started eating better, exercising, learning and started writing code. Initial versions were extremely manual and then he went down a long path of automation. Strangely, the more he automated the worse everything worked. And then as he started to worry more and more about privacy, the idea for a desktop application was born.
Fitness Tracker went into beta the first quarter of 2025 and will be released for Windows in the third quarter.

The founder writes about a very late decision to rewrite Fitness Tracker while it was in beta testing. It was a very difficult decision with a lot of risk attached, but it has proven to be a very good exercise overall. The application is faster, the install package is smaller and it's an opportunity to correct mistakes made during the last build process. ( read the article )
