A new section
It took a tremendous amount of work and a lot of Python but our resources section just dropped. This content is stuff that I have been collecting and collating since I first started Fitness Tracker seven years ago.
I will write more about it later and take you on more formal tours of each section, but for now we have content broken up into three main areas.
Exercise Directory
This was one of the most challenging projects of my life. Not only have I spent the last seven years collecting over 800 exercises, but I have tried most of them. I learned a couple of critical things:
Aside from that, putting these together in a format that you could read was an interesting challenge. I can't wait to implement these within the app later on this week.
Nutrition
I'm not a really big fan of most diets, but I like to know what I eat. And gaining some knowledge on macronutrients, vitamins and minerals was a really important step for me to learn about what I eat. In my case, I discovered a lot of this stuff through cravings and accidental little performance boosts. That turned into some learning and that learning ended up in this section.
Muscle groups
This section is the first I will add to and I'm not quite happy with it. The exercises are broken out into muscle groups and they're all kept here. But the muscle system is a lot more complicated than big headings like 'shoulders' can capture and so over the next few weeks I will be expanding this with a lot of information on the muscles, structures and formations that each bigger group contains.
Let's go!
I have a lot of work left to do but wanted to write a quick note to capture what's been going on. Stay peaceful and have a beautiful night.
