The Barbell Squat is a full-body movement that focuses on lower-body strength, power, and control. It’s a foundational exercise in nearly every strength training program.
Instructions
- Position the bar on a rack just below shoulder height and load it with appropriate weight.
- Step under the bar and rest it on your upper traps, gripping the bar firmly.
- Unrack the bar and step back into a shoulder-width stance, toes slightly out.
- Inhale and lower into a squat until your thighs are at least parallel to the ground.
- Drive through your heels to return to standing and repeat.
