Barbell Step Ups

Develop leg strength and control with this unilateral barbell movement.

This exercise mimics stair climbing or hiking and is highly effective for strengthening the lower body. It also promotes balance and injury prevention by training each leg independently.

Instructions

  1. Stand behind a sturdy platform with a barbell placed securely on your upper back.
  2. Step up with one leg and drive through your heel to lift your body onto the platform.
  3. Bring the other foot up to meet the first, standing tall.
  4. Step back down under control, reversing the movement.
  5. Complete all reps on one leg before switching.
