Bent Knee Standing Calf Raise

Strengthen your calves and improve ankle stability with this simple bent-knee variation.

The Bent Knee Standing Calf Raise is a simple but highly effective lower leg exercise. By slightly bending your knees, you shift more emphasis onto the soleus muscle, which plays a key role in walking, running, and standing for long periods.

This variation is especially useful for beginners because it requires no equipment and can be done anywhere. It also helps improve balance and coordination while strengthening the muscles that support your ankles.

Instructions

  1. Stand upright with your feet about hip-width apart.
  2. Slightly bend your knees and keep them in this position throughout the exercise.
  3. Press through the balls of your feet to raise your heels off the ground.
  4. Lift as high as you comfortably can without locking your knees.
  5. Pause briefly at the top.
  6. Slowly lower your heels back to the floor in a controlled manner.
  7. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, maintaining steady balance.
