The Board Press is a powerful overload movement that focuses on the top portion of the bench press. It’s a key accessory lift for building tricep strength and power.

Instructions

  1. Lie flat on a bench and place stacked wooden boards on your chest—secured by a partner or tucked under your shirt.
  2. Get tight by retracting your shoulder blades and arching your back. Keep your traps and feet engaged.
  3. Take a grip that suits your goal (closer for more triceps focus) and unrack the bar without letting your shoulders protract.
  4. Lower the bar to the boards in a controlled manner.
  5. Press up explosively, keeping the elbows tucked until lockout.
