Donkey Calf Raises

Build serious calf size and strength with this classic standing variation.

Donkey Calf Raises are a great addition to lower body training in the Fitness Tracker app. They emphasize the calves and soleus with a deep range of motion and improved leverage from the bent-forward position.

Instructions

  1. Set up on a donkey calf raise machine with your hips and lower back beneath the padded lever.
  2. Place the balls of your feet on the edge of the calf platform, allowing your heels to hang off.
  3. With your knees straight but not locked, lower your heels until you feel a full stretch.
  4. Push through the balls of your feet and raise your heels as high as possible, contracting your calves at the top.
  5. Slowly return to the starting position and repeat for the target number of reps.
