The Power Clean from Blocks is a technical movement designed to develop power and timing for Olympic lifting. By starting from blocks, you reduce range of motion and focus more directly on the explosive second pull. FitnessTracker recommends this for athletes working on their clean form or transitioning into more advanced strength training.
Instructions
- Set a barbell on blocks at mid-shin or knee height.
- Stand with feet under the bar, grip just outside your legs, and lower your hips.
- Keep your back flat, chest up, and arms straight as you initiate the pull.
- Drive through your heels and extend your hips, knees, and ankles in one explosive motion.
- Shrug and pull yourself under the bar, rotating your elbows to rack it on your shoulders.
- Stand up tall, then return the bar to the blocks to reset.
