Managing Your Account

Learn how Fitness Tracker’s local account system works — no servers, no cloud, just secure profiles stored on your device.

Welcome! This page explains how login and signup work in Fitness Tracker and why the app includes a built-in account system — even though your data stays on your device.

Why Does Fitness Tracker Require a Login?

Fitness Tracker is designed like a secure personal notebook. Each account stores its own data, keeping things organized and private — especially helpful if multiple people use the same device.

Your "login" acts like a key to your notebook, even though:

  • All data is stored locally on your computer
  • No account info is ever sent to a server
  • You don’t need an internet connection to use the app

What Happens When You Sign Up?

When you sign up:

  • You choose a username and password
  • Your password is securely encrypted (we use Argon2, a strong hashing algorithm)
  • A local session file is created so you stay logged in until you log out

What’s Stored?

Fitness Tracker keeps only:

  • Your username
  • A secure hash of your password (never the actual password)
  • Your personal fitness data — stored on your machine, not ours

Can I Skip Login?

Some versions of the app may allow "quick start" or no-login modes. These are usually tied to personal or educational use. By default, though, Fitness Tracker will ask you to log in so your progress is stored safely under your account.

What If I Forget My Password?

Currently, there is no password reset — your account is stored on your device. This helps keep your data private but means it's important to remember your password.
